Lucy Smith-Williams
Lucy is a Brooklyn based cinematographer who received her BFA in Film/TV at New York University in 2019. Since her graduation, she has worked in the Electric department for the Local 52 on productions such as ‘The Watcher’, ‘Up Here’, ‘Someplace Real’, and ‘East New York’.
She has worked with some of the best gaffers in New York City as an on set lighting technician, soaking in the lighting techniques of each film or tv show. She values her experience in the lighting department and in oil painting which continues to inform her work as a Cinematographer.
During 2022-2023 she attended FAMU’s one year cinematography course in Prague, Czech Republic, and enjoyed working on film (Bolex Super 16, 16mm and 35mm) for the projects that she shot during the program.
Her most recent projects as cinematographer include a documentary on the overpopulation of wild horses in America, a 4 episode narrative series called ‘Gimme a Break’, and her thesis film at FAMU, which she directed and shot on 35mm film.
